I plead with you! Never, ever give up on hope, never doubt, never tire, and never become discouraged. Be not afraid. – Saint John Paul II
Only two weeks ago, a generous donor approached Saint John the Evangelist with a challenge. He stated that he will match any and all donations for our Building Fund up to $200,000 in order to assist us with the significant damages our campus has endured due to Hurricane Irma. Some of you are only getting into town now and may not be aware of the seriousness of the impact this storm has had on our church. From our church roof being ripped apart and AC units punctured by flying tiles to 2 weeks without power, causing warping of all the doors and the loss of the Ballroom, we have sustained major loss and will be undergoing repairs and renovations throughout the coming year. I want to thank you all for your patience while we restore and renew St. John. We will be stronger for it, for sure.
This challenge is from a non-parishioner, a community member who has chosen to give to Saint John the Evangelist as a way of acknowledging the great work our Parish Family does in the community and who does not want to pass up the opportunity to help us continue our mission. In the past two weeks, we have responded to his challenge, raising over $154,000 in a just this short time.
Please use your blue Capital Campaign envelopes, or if you are in church, you can use the white envelopes within the pews to ensure your gifts will become part of this matching opportunity. Make your checks out to Saint John the Evangelist and put “Hurricane Repairs” or “Building Fund” in the Memo Line. Let’s try and beat the challenge and match the $200,000 in three weeks!
As we Build Our Future, Serve Our Past, we still need all the gifts, prayers, and support of our Parish Family. If you have any questions, please contact Jean-Paul Boucher, at 239-566-8740 or email: [email protected].
