Many of you have seen the sign on the Cry Room for a little while, stating that the room is “Closed for Repairs”. What many people may not know, and may have never even seen before, is that our renovation and repairs within the church have taken on a much larger effort. When you walk into the front doors of our church, you probably walk right past the door on the left, labeled Sacristy. The Sacristy is a sacred and essential part of our church. It is the room where all the functions of our Mass are prepared, from the vestments (robes) of the clergy, to the hosts and wine being placed in their containers (ciborium and chalice), to the storage of all the items used for the Mass. It is also the room where our Liturgical Family, prepare to serve all of us, from the Eucharistic Ministers to the Lectors, Altar Servers to the Sacristans, priests and deacons. This enables them to prayerfully focus on the upcoming Mass and work together in harmony.
When we found several structural issues within the Cry Room (those of you that have been in there understand the Air Conditioning was not working properly and that the room would becoming overheated quickly), we determined there were several opportunities to enhance that room, and renovate the Sacristy at the same time. New flooring is going in to the entire location, making cleanup a snap. The air system is being repositioned to allow for proper airflow. The unused cabinets have been pulled out to make for more family-friendly seating. All in all, it is a large-scale project and I truly appreciate your patience as we come closer to its completion. We are planning on having the Cry Room open again for you in a few weeks.
