Preparing for First Communion

IMG_1863In preparation for a special time in their lives, 62 children in our Faith Formation program preparing to receive their First Holy Communion on May 2, gathered together along with their parents to make banners! Kids and parents worked together on this special tradition in our Parish Ballroom. Using glitter, glue, felt, sparkly jewels and foamies the children made banners with their names and religious symbols that were important to them and would help them mark this special time in their lives. These individually made banners will hang in the church for approximately three weeks prior to their First Holy Communion Day so that our entire parish community can pray for our children and support them in their journey of faith.

Our Faith Formation program at St. John currently has over 300 children ages pre-K through 12th grade and continues to grow. Registration opportunities for the 2015-2016 school year will be available soon. We look forward to continuing our strong program and welcome newcomers!
