Our Parish Family, staff, and clergy are closely monitoring Hurricane Irma, which reached Category 5 strength today, its track, which has shifted slightly Northern, and its time frame for impact, currently 8 AM on Sunday. As a precaution and to assist with our preparations, we have cancelled all activities and events scheduled on our campus other than Mass, including Families in Christ. Unfortunately, Saint John resides in the second-worst category of FEMA flood zones, so we are unable to provide effective shelter or support during the Hurricane if it hits our shores. Please make all preparations you can for yourself and your family (including your pets). A great resource for planning can be found at Ready.gov:
We have not made any decisions on the impact on our Masses at this time, but we will keep you informed if and when any changes may occur for your safety and the safety of our priests and liturgical ministers.
