While the impending path of Hurricane Dorian will not be a direct hit like Hurricane Irma two years ago, there will certainly be some level of weather and post hurricane impact to our area. Saint John the Evangelist clergy and staff are monitoring its progress. If a watch or warning is issued for our location, we will initiate our plan and communicate any changes to our Mass schedule or any other alterations to the operations of our church. We are praying for our Parish Family and all those in harm’s way.
At this time, we highly recommend our Parish Family take the time to prepare for the inevitable supply chain delays that will occur from this storm (there will be some issues in delivering critical materials to our location in Southwest Florida if the storm cuts across the state and lingers).
Please ensure you have enough of the below items for next week:
- Gas
- Prescriptions
- Medical Supplies
- Water
- Food (for you, your family, and your pets)
- Batteries (Including battery packs for recharging cell phones as a primary means of communication)
- Cash (in case of an extended power outage)
Please confirm your Communication Plan with your Loved Ones:
- How can they get in touch with you to check in?
- Where will you be in the case of an emergency?
During this hurricane season we turn to You, O loving Father. Spare us from new and past tragedies whose memories are still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with passing of time. In Your name, we pray. Amen.
