As part of an on-going effort to communicate the renewed focus and efforts of our Parish Mission, I wanted to start a new series in our bulletin, Getting #ToKnow Our Staff. We will spotlight a staff member here at Saint John, including some of their responsibilities and background. That way, if you have a question, or need some assistance, you can put a name and face to those that will be helping you.
Our offices have never been busier here at St. John. In fact, we have had to install a third phone just to handle the volume of calls coming in on a daily basis. We are blessed with tremendously dedicated volunteers that continue to greet our Parish Family and our visitors, both in person and over the phone. Our volunteers assist countless individuals and families in every aspect of their journeys, from answering questions about our Mass times to selling tickets for our events to consoling someone who is dealing with a newly-diagnosed cancer prognosis to finding some food for the hungry families that turn to our church when they have no where else to go. We all owe them our thanks for continuing to provide the loving and joyous face of our Catholic Church.
However, with the increase in communication and the growth of our Parish Family, we have seen the need to add staff that will be responsible to manage this Front Desk directly. Kathy Mooney, who has been assisting with the Front Desk as well as with our Faith Formation program, was the ideal choice. Her smile and wonderful devotion to our faith shines each time she interacts with those that stop by our offices.
“It is an exciting time at St. John. To Know, To Love, and To Serve God in His church and our community is ouir mission. I nd there is no better way to serve our parishioners than at the Front Of ce helping to serve their needs. Our volunteers bring incredible backgrounds and experience to the Front Of ce. We are a family at St. John and we are here to serve our Parish Family.” — Kathy Mooney
Kathy’s role as Office Manager is to provide that warm and engaging connection for the parish, whether over the phone or in person. She will lead and manage our committed volunteer staff of the Front Desk, and assist with filtering the various requests going forward.
“Sometimes our lives direct us to ‘our real calling’ in life and that is what I believe brought me to St. John. My career had always been happily in the hospitality industry. Now I nd it so much sweeter serving and helping our parishioners.” — Kathy Mooney
We are blessed to have Deborah Marsh continuing in her role as Parish Secretary as well. Deb will focus her efforts on the critical and complex efforts that are required of a parish of our size, including official parish record documentation, sacramental support, background check and fingerprinting, and many other duties she already has been accomplishing behind the scenes.
Please join me in welcoming Kathy and thanking Deb for all their hard work!
