As part of an on-going effort to communicate the renewed focus and efforts of our Parish Mission, I wanted to continue a series in our bulletin, Getting #ToKnow Our Staff. We will spotlight a staff member here at St. John, including some of their responsibilities and background. That way, if you have a question, or need some assistance, you can put a name and face to those that will be helping you.
One of the greatest successes I feel as an employer is when someone who works for me finds a new and exciting opportunity to grow professionally, and that I have helped that person find their path. It is even better when that path continues within the organization. That is the case with one of our Facilities Support personnel, Luz “Lucy” Lozano. Luz came to our Parish Family directly from high school. She has been a smiling face helping with every aspect of the church, from housekeeping to supporting events, to even working in the Front Office. Her bright temperament, along with her humble love of the church, have made her a joy to work with. It is with pride that I am happy to report that Luz will be moving into the Faith Formation program, as the new Assistant to the Director of Religious Education. She will continue to grow as part of our staff, and even more families will get a chance to engage her and our programs here at St. John due to her skills and abilities.
Aside from Luz’s personality, detail focus, and ability to learn new tasks quickly, her bi-lingual capability is a unique tool set she will bring to the Faith Formation team. We have seen a significant increase in our Spanish-speaking community in the past 2 years, and Luz will be able to engage those who come to our church searching for faith enrichment in their native language. It is essential that we provide opportunities for all the Catholics in the area to learn about their church and their community here at St. John and Luz is a core member of our team to ensure no one leaves feeling unserved.
Please join me in congratulating Luz in her new role here for our Parish Family!
