Future Begins with Parish Activity Center and Rome Signage

What’s in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet; – William Shakespeare, “Romeo and Juliet

The names of our buildings and our rooms are essential for both our Parish Family and all our friends that visit our campus.  With 5,000 events and activities on an annual basis, we have an active and vibrant space filled with people every single day.  Clear naming conventions serve several purposes:

  • Easy to Find Where to Go: Signage, both physical and digital, will make it simple and straight forward to find where on our campus an activity is taking place.
  • Illustrating Our Parish: With parish-oriented terms like “Activity” and “Life”, our buildings showcase the focus of our efforts.
  • Illustrating Our Faith: By utilizing city names from the New Testament (and focusing them by continent for each building), we are creating a subtle yet clear message about the inclusion of our faith at every level of our activities and events here at St. John.

We have finalized all the physical signage changes we have described, so from now on, we will using the below names for rooms here at St. John for all events:

  • Parish Activity Center (PAC): Replaces the Parish Life Center, as that name would be confusing due to our upcoming Pulte Family Life Center (PLC). This is the building where the Ballroom, our Parish Offices, and ten classrooms reside.
  • Rome: Our first renovation tasks was to renew a heavily used small reception and meeting room, that used to be called the Library. The PAC will be our Europe, so the focal point of Catholicism in Rome made sense to use that name as our first room of the new environment.

Of course, signage does not have to be boring.  Our new bathroom signs are a perfect example, illustrating that same connection to our faith, but is a whimsical way, with sisters for the ladies’ rooms and priests for the men’s rooms.

As we Build Our Future, Serve Our Past, we still need all the gifts, prayers, and support of our Parish Family to reach our Pinnacle Goals.  If you have any questions, please contact Joe Lichwalla, the Campaign Coordinator at 239-495-2001 or email: [email protected].
