Feeding Hunger, Filling Hearts Raises almost $15,000 for Immokalee

IMG_2092The Saint John Parish Family and the Community of Naples opened their hearts on Ash Wednesday for our first ever Feeding Hunger, Filling Hearts event, raising much needed funding for Catholic Charities of Collier County Guadalupe Social Services and the Casa Maria Soup Kitchen.  This effort, which could not have been accomplished without the tremendous support and efforts of countless volunteers from the Pelican Sound Community, the Ladies of Charity, and the Knights of Columbus, and food donations from grocery stores and restaurants like Texas Roadhouse and Steamers (parishioner-owned).  After two separate seatings for a humble bowl of soup and some bread, the attendees of the event were treated to music and heartfelt communication about the need in Immokalee.  If you were not able to attend, here is the video that captures the spectrum of services provided every day by the Guadalupe Social Services and what it means to the community of Immokalee:
