Easter is Not Over; It Has Just Begun!

Give thanks to the Lord for he is good, his mercy endures forever. Psalm 118

Easter week, or Easter time, begins on Easter Day and continues for eight days, similar to Passover, culminating on the 2nd Sunday of Easter, known since April 2000, as Divine Mercy Sunday. We are given eight days to slowly take in the marvels God has done.

The Easter season continues for another 40 days, through the Ascension to Pentecost Sunday, which celebrates the descent of the Holy Spirit which inaugurated the Christian church.

Just as we are invited to do something special during Advent and Lent, you are invited to do something special this Easter season.

While you are “sheltering in place” and binge watching your favorite movie or show, take just 30 minutes a week and watch one lesson in Bishop Robert Barron’s program, The Mass. Over the next six weekly installments, you will discover the answer to the question, why do I go to Mass?

Through these engaging videos from Bishop Barron, you will come away with a deeper understanding of what the Mass is and why it matters; why it’s the most important thing you can do on Earth.

This Week: View Lesson One, A Privileged Encounter.

We are all called to a full, conscious, and active participation in the Mass, but some of us aren’t sure what we are participating in. Find out why the Mass is like getting together with friends, why it is an encounter with Jesus.

When you have finished, consider these questions:

  • Why is lay participation in the Mass so important and what does it signify?
  • What are your own stumbling blocks with regards to the Mass? (Keep these in mind as we go through the study)

You can view these episodes, in English or Spanish, on your TV, computer, tablet, or phone. You can receive access with just a few simple steps.

First, you need to be registered in Flocknote, our parish’s email and texting tool. If you have participated in an Adult Faith Formation program, you are likely already registered. But if not, please register at http://flocknote.com/sjecc

Then, from the Flocknote home page, you can visit www.wofdigital.org to watch any of the videos, whenever you want, without ever having to login. You can also download the Word on Fire Digital app from the Apple or Android store, and watch directly from that app on your device.
