Continuing the Search for Our Musician and Liturgist: Auditions

children's choirWe have been gifted as a Parish Family with many talented musicians that have assisted us through our transition from our previous Liturgist.  From Mary and Jennine, Mark and Martin, from Gabby and Tammy to Brigid, Chip, and Eleanor, each of our musicians have stepped up in their roles to enhance our experience within our church.  They have filled in during funerals and weddings.  They have helped in leading our youth and children.  I want to also thank Ellie Roberts, our Artistic Director, in all her efforts to lead the music program.  She is doing an outstanding job, including making our Adult Choir a year-round music ministry.  I hope you have enjoyed hearing them at various Masses during the weekend.

Given all this talent, we have been able to take our time in identifying and down selecting several candidates for our Musician and Liturgist position.  After the first round of interviews, we were not able to make a match between St. John and the candidates.  However, we are in an even better position now with several more potential musicians.  We have some specific criteria we will be evaluating our potential musicians for, especially given our future direction as a Parish Family.  Not only will they need to continue the strong liturgical engagement that has been the hallmark of our musical program, we need a Musician that is ready to enliven the arts throughout the entire campus.  They will be interviewing over the next several weekends, playing at the Masses.  You will all have the opportunity to hear their talent and I know they will appreciate your feedback and hospitality when you greet them.  Please feel free to email or call me with your impressions as I welcome your input in this essential hire for our Parish Family.
