Unfortunately, I was informed this week that the Hope Visiting Nurses, formally Visiting Nurses of Southwest Florida, no longer provide a community flu shot clinic onsite at locations around the area. They were one of the last groups in the area that would come to a local spot to perform flu shots, so it means Saint John will no longer have that service directly at our facilities. Instead, they recommend that our Parish Family go to the local pharmacies, clinics, and doctor offices that are now providing the flu shots at little or no cost.
This is a disappointment to me personally, as I was happy to have this clinic here as St. John, for the parishioners, the ministers, and the staff. We will continue to evaluate new ways to support wellness on our campus and hopefully there will be another group we will be able to engage for this service next year.
