Catholic Communication Campaign 2014

ccc1The Diocese of Venice will collecting for a vital Campaign during the weekend of May 31st – June 1st.  This Collection communicates the Gospel through Catholic social media activities and enriches our faith through Internet, television, radio, and print media. Half of all proceeds remain in our diocese and support local needs, so please be generous in this collection. CCC equips us to share our experience of faith, worship, and witness with the world.

For example, in Africa, the Collection funded the Kenya Election Assistance Project, an initiative of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB), which used text messaging and other new tools to prevent violence during the 2013 elections. The initiative successfully sent messages through radio, television, and online media, touching the lives of the Kenyan people and encouraging them to address their differences by more peaceful means.

For Susan, who lives in Minnesota, online social media funded by CCC was an experience of catechesis and evangelization. “I found a real and living community,” she said, “which went beyond the online environment into concrete relationships.” Susan now shares her faith with all her friends—both Catholic and non-Catholic—through her social media sites. This would be impossible, she said, without the content provided by dioceses and organizations supported by the CCC.

Saint John has invigorated our communications capabilities and outreach into brand new areas for the church.  We have reached out via Twitter.  We are the only US Catholic Church that utilizes Google Glass for our parish.  We see communication as the core of our ability to reach out and engage in a loving and joyous way to anyone and everyone around us.  Please join us in this essential campaign to evangelize and perform good works here at home and around the world.
