The Parish Family has been working feverishly over this summer to come up with new efforts to engage every age group and every need at St. John. From renewing structures like our Ushers and Greeters Ministry to encapsulate our “Moment of Encounter” to enlivening our Adult Faith Formation Program with educational and engaging seminars, we are living out our Mission To Know, To Love, and To Serve God. Some of the most exciting initiatives will start this coming month, so we can be ready for our Seasonal Friends when they arrive:
- Farmers Market: Every Friday starting mid-September, from 8AM to 1PM, St. John will host a Farmers Market in our middle parking lot, near the baseball field. This market will give our Parish Family and the local community access to fresh produce, great arts and crafts, local food options, and booths for JOP, Catholic Charities, and other worthy organizations to get their message out.
- Seniors Music Get-Together: Come listen to 50’s, 60’s, classical, patriotic, and liturgical music every Tuesday morning after Mass in the Choir Room in a social atmosphere. Special musical guests will play on a monthly basis with dancing in the ballroom for those events.
- Farms of Florida Produce: Did you ever want fresh, local produce to be available to you on a weekly basis? The Farms of Florida will allow our Parish Family to order boxes of vegetables and/or fruits on a weekly basis and deliver them directly to the church based on your Mass schedule. Forms for signing up will be available the weekend of September 12th and 13th as well as online.
- Kindermusik: Get your baby to pre-kindergartener up and dancing with Kindermusik, available every Saturday morning. The young ones will get to play music and move to the beat and the whole family can enjoy the tunes, including Italian and Swedish lullabies, with take home CD’s. - Keys for the Heart Concert for Gift of Life: October 17th is a very special evening featuring famed pianist Francesco Attesti and soprano Nathalie Avila accompanied by the Junior Orchestra from Artis-Naples. Proceeds from this special music event will benefit the Gift of Life, a live-saving cardiac care program which includes open heart surgeries for children in developing nations. - Marriage Retreat: John wants to kick off its focus on persistent marriage support and development with a Marriage Retreat, October 24th. This day will be a renewal to support couples of all ages, wanting to renew and remember the reasons they made their vows, whether that was 2 years, 20 years or 60 years ago.
