Enhanced Faith Formation Program to Educate Pre-K to 10th Grade

20140503_103735_082It has always been the aspiration of Saint John to provide a cohesive and complete religious education program for our parish youth and families. More importantly, it is essential for the faith of our children to have a continuous catechesis that engages them in their minds, hearts and souls so they will enjoy and engage learning every year, not just when they are preparing for a sacrament. We continue to provide weekly classes, which provides consistency and commitment to religious education. We see the role of Faith Formation as core to our Parish Mission: the “To Know” of “To Know, To Love, and To Serve God in His Church and Our Community”. We are happy to announce the expansion of our Faith Formation Program to include children from Pre-K to 10th Grade as well as an invigoration of the catechesis program to ensure loving, joyous, dedicated and devoted instructors and program material.

Increasing Scope

Up until now, Saint John has provided weekly Faith Formation classes for children from First to Fifth Grade. While these formative years are essential to reach and educate the youth of our parish, it is vital that we shepherd them throughout their entire faith engagement with instruction. Some of the changes you will see in the upcoming year include:

  • Continuous Faith Formation Courses for Pre-K through 10th Grade (including Confirmation Classes)
  • “Full-Lifecycle” Faith Formation – Youth should be involved in Faith Formation every year, not just during sacramental preparation
  • Integration with the Family Mission Youth Group for social and service-based programs
  • Support of all High School students through the Family Mission Youth Group

Invigorated Education

Saint John has embraced the message from our Holy Father, to showcase the joy and love that our faith exudes, in all facets of our lives and to the entire world. As such, we are invigorating the Faith Formation program to include this message, through the communications processes, instructor education, and student engagement.
