Utilizing the insights of scripture and tradition as a resource and reinforcing what the Catholic Church teaches and believes, the catechists of the Saint John the Evangelist Faith Formation Program instruct the parish to live their lives in imitation of Jesus and to respond to the call to follow Him.
Youth Faith Formation
The Youth Faith Formation Program, which runs from September through May, also provides sacramental preparation for the children of Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church. To receive the sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, or Confirmation, children must attend a minimum of two consecutive years of religious instruction. Specifically, to receive the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist, children must be at least seven years old and in the second grade. To receive the sacrament of Confirmation, children must have a minimum of two consecutive years of religious instruction, and be in the tenth grade.

Adult Faith Formation
Proactively addresses the need of all adult Catholics, women and men, to continue to grow in their faith, and to form an adult faith. For most adults, religious education and formation ended when they were confirmed. And though they may be highly educated, they are still operating with the religion they received as a child. It’s quite difficult to address adult questions with eighth grade answers.
