You never fail until you stop trying. – Albert Einstein
It was a herculean task to get our Ballroom open temporarily for Easter Sunday. For all of you who got to experience this “industrial” Liturgical environment, I thank you for your patience and acceptance (along with not disturbing the chairs so we did not lose a single footing to the cement floor). It was standing room only in the church, our Ballroom, and within the Courtyard between the two buildings, meaning that Saint John provided a welcoming and engaging Easter for over 2500 members of our Parish Family and our friends at 9 AM and another 2500 at 11:15 AM. It is truly a blessing to be able to serve so many with our faith and our hospitality.
Unfortunately, there have been a significant amount of issues as we continue the repair and recovery of the Ballroom itself. Lighting and A/V systems have been found to be damaged from the storm and needed to be added to our list of projects. The doors are taking a significant amount of time to fabricate. The palladium walls must be formed in the shop, which requires detailed drawings and measurements. All of this effort has meant that we have been forced to cancel events and activities through to and into May at this point. We are doing everything possible to get this room ready for its new role as our primary church during the summer months. It will be quite extraordinary when it is completed.
I continue to appreciate your patience and understanding as we improve our campus and repair the damage from Hurricane Irma.
