Fruits of Campaign: CYO Soccer First Day!

Sport is not only a form of entertainment, but also — and I would say above all — a tool to communicate values which promote the good of the human person and contribute to building a more peaceful and fraternal society. – Pope Francis

The first active Catholic Youth Organization in Florida in over 25 years kicked off this past weekend!  With Father John in attendance, we were able to experience our youth, from pre-kindergarten through high school, playing soccer as part of the Optimist Soccer League.  With big CYO logos on their jerseys, our players joined in with the core tenants of teamwork and positive instruction on the game.  Father John even joked with Matt Birk, ex-NFL Super Bowl Champion, parishioner, and coach of our CYO U9 Boys team, that he was finally getting involved in the “real” football.  Pope Francis would be proud, as I hope all of you are.  You have supported and achieved this vision in such a short time.  Thank you for all your prayers, gifts, and encouragement.

While the money has been pledged in our Build Our Future, Serve Our Past capital campaign to build our Life Center and some of our other urgent needs, we still need our entire Parish Family to give in order to reach our additional goals, including the detailed execution of the above programs. If you have any questions, please contact Joe Lichwalla, the Campaign Coordinator at 239-495-2001 or email: [email protected].
