Getting #ToKnow Our Staff – Facilities Manager John Levering

JohnMany of you have noticed the smiling face of Marty Gautier, who has served our Parish Family for many years and in several capacities.  Marty is one of the smiling faces that greets you at Mass as an Usher (at several different Masses on Saturday and Sunday).  He is responsible for the gorgeous woodwork around the church, including our new Processional Cross (which is a duplicate of the crucifix above the altar and is far more sturdy than our previous Cross), and for nearly a year, he has filled in as our Facilities Manager.  This parish owes him a tremendous thank you for all the effort he has expended in moving our facilities and ground forward in the face of the tremendous issues we still are working to resolve.  From walking the roofs to see where the leaks are coming from to implementing new cooling systems for our comfort, Marty has been an integral part of our progress.

In an effort to help Marty enjoy his retirement, marriage, and life, we have combed over a large set of prospective Facilities Managers.  With the help of the Buildings and Grounds Council members, Father John and I have chosen an individual who brings tremendous experience and capability to the position, John Levering.  From his time as a Maintenance Supervisor for Army Cobra Gunships to his 15 years of experience with volunteers and service as a manager at hospice and healthcare facilities, he will bring both the structure and process needed for our complex environment as well as a deep understanding of our mission to serve our Parish Family.

It was important for me and my family that I find a positive and healthy work environment. What I found here at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church has already proven to be that and more. I look forward to helping move Saint John’s into the future and accomplish the vision of “To Know, To Love, and To Serve God in His Church and Our Community”.

At St. John, our campus serves over 4,800 events and programs, in addition to the Masses and services within the church building.  Our buildings must be welcoming and supportive for the enjoyment of the sacraments for our Parish Family and guests.  Our grounds must be beautiful and reflective of the joy and peace of the Catholic faith.  The campus must be able to support 3-person prayer groups and 800-person conferences, all within the same day and even at the same moment.  We are very blessed to have amazing staff and volunteers to achieve all of these efforts 7 days a week, morning, noon, and night.  Please join me in welcoming John to our Parish Staff.
