World Meeting of Family Day One: Travel and Check-In

IMG_3211Many of the Saint John contingent met up very early on Monday to fly up to Philadelphia in order to register for the World Meeting of Family, Festival of Families, and the Papal Mass.  Held every three years and sponsored by the Holy See’s Pontifical Council for the Family, the World Meeting of Families is the world’s largest Catholic gathering of families. Each World Meeting of Families has a theme that energizes and enlivens the event while adding great depth of meaning to our understanding of families. The theme of the World Meeting of Families is “Love Is Our Mission: The Family Fully Alive,” emphasizing the impact of the love and life of families on our society.

We arrived early in Philly and were immediately welcomed by volunteers in Orange, ready to assist the hundreds of thousands (some say millions) of people coming to witness Our Holy Father’s first visit to the United States.  We found our way through the city to register for the events.  We were able to stop for few pictures with volunteers from Saint Williams and even met up with a group from France attending the Congress.  We returned to our hotel and celebrated our safe travels and future plans at a reception for Saint John’s.

More to come…
